Gibson honors guitarits from all over the world with special releases of their famous guitars by allowing the artist to customize their own guitar. These models are made available and get much more attention that the regular Gibson releases.
In some cases i.e. to make the models affordable to the normal person Epiphone releases some additonal Models that have a much cheaper price than an original Gibson.
Tak Matsumoto Models
Back in 1999 his first Signature Model the Tak Matsumoto Les Paul Canary Yellow was introduced by Gisbon. This honor was possible because Steve Vai recommended him. Up to now Matsumoto has a total of seven Signature Models and thereby holds a record.
Over the years Tak Matsumoto has been given several Gibson Signatures. Those guitars have become quite popular and are (in most cases) Japan or US only releases.
