Japanese acts are also invited to perform, with B'z occasionally performing both as a band and as part of their solo efforts. Their last appearance at the festival came during SUMMER SONIC 09.

B'z teamed up with American rock legends Aerosmith for the second time, playing a double bill together and in the process performing a joint version of Aerosmith classic "Mama Kin".
